Thanks for that feedback, Paul. I hesitated going with this approach because I thought it might detract from my point (since our left hemisphere LOVES binary options). So I’m glad to know that it gave you perspective instead of painting you into a theological corner. :)
I was reflecting on this more today, and while I like the assessment, what I like even more is that it gives me the experience of seeing the shortcomings of my own thinking. And that helps me become more open to a greater understanding of each idea.
For example, "When you hear 'church'..." I initially think I know what church is; I have my definition. But then I see a grander description of church that's more glorious and exciting, and I want to explore, experience, and share that!
