"The implication of this dependence/independence issue is profound: We don’t have the ability to 1) define who we are, 2) make sense of our reality, 3) understand our purpose or 4) generate a holy passion for living out that purpose in God-aligned ways." GOLD!

This one showed up in my feed today, thanks for putting this out there Damian. Good stuff!! The line that sticks with me is that Jesus didn’t come to upgrade my old identity. He gave me a new one, and discipleship is learning to put off the self that keeps trying to prove itself and put on the life that depends on Him.

Thanks for comment, Mark. I find the roots of the false/old self run so much deeper than I realize. It's so stupidly simple: To be a disciple of Jesus we must lose who we think we want to be, in order to find who God has designed us to be. So stupidly simple that we often miss it.
